A recent study by Australian comparison platform Canstar Travel Insurance has ranked the world's best in-flight dining experiences, with a Greek airline taking the top spot. Aegean Airlines, based in Athens and operating a fleet of just 83 jets, scored highest among passengers, outperforming many major carriers.

Canstar Travel Insurance analyzed over 125,000 passenger reviews to evaluate the top 100 airlines for their dining offerings. Aegean Airlines achieved a score of 7.82 out of 10, praised for its fresh, regionally-inspired dishes and authentic Greek hospitality. The airline's menu is inspired by the Greek concept of filema, which represents love and kindness through food. Passengers in all classes enjoy traditional Greek flavors, while business-class travelers are treated to meals crafted by renowned Greek chefs and sommeliers.
Asian Carriers Dominate
Qatar Airways secured the second position, followed by Asiana Airlines in third, EVA Air in fourth, and Singapore Airlines in fifth. The study highlighted that Asian carriers claimed seven of the top ten spots. South Korea and Japan were the only countries with multiple airlines in the top ten: Asiana (3rd) and Korean Air (6th) from South Korea, and All Nippon Airways (ANA) (7th) and Japan Airlines (8th) from Japan.
Canadian Airlines Lag Behind
Canadian airlines did not fare well in the rankings. Air Canada placed 83rd overall for in-flight dining, though it ranked higher in a separate list for first-class food, coming in 35th out of 68 airlines. WestJet scored even lower, ranking 92nd for overall dining experience.
The study underscores the growing importance of culinary offerings in airline passenger satisfaction, with carriers like Aegean Airlines setting a high standard through authentic, regionally-inspired menus.
