Engineering students at the University of Ottawa have designed and built a Formula 1 car to compete against 120 universities from Canada and the United States. The team unveiled their creation, which was developed over the course of the academic year, showcasing their skills in design, engineering, and project management.
Student-Led Innovation
The project was entirely student-driven, with participants from various engineering disciplines collaborating to bring the car to life. From aerodynamics to powertrain, every component was carefully crafted to meet competition standards. The team worked tirelessly, often putting in long hours after classes and on weekends, to ensure the car was race-ready.
CTV's Camille Wilson got an exclusive first look at the vehicle, highlighting the intricate details and the team's dedication. The car features a lightweight carbon fiber chassis, a high-performance engine, and advanced telemetry systems, all designed by the students themselves.
Competition Details
The competition, which includes 120 universities, is a benchmark for student engineering excellence. Teams are judged on design, speed, and innovation. The University of Ottawa team is optimistic about their chances, having tested the car extensively on local tracks.
“This is a culmination of months of hard work,” said the team lead. “We're excited to represent our university and compete against the best.”
The event is expected to draw significant attention from industry professionals, offering students networking opportunities and potential career paths. The team hopes their performance will inspire future engineering students at the university.
