The Edmonton Oilers have signed Finnish forward Aku Raty to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Tuesday. The deal will pay Raty $775,000 at the NHL level and $80,000 in the American Hockey League.
Player Background
Raty, 23, is a native of Oulu, Finland. He was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round, 151st overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward spent the 2025-26 season with the Tucson Roadrunners, the AHL affiliate of the Utah Hockey Club, where he recorded 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 68 games.
Career Statistics
In 97 career AHL games, Raty has accumulated 23 goals and 34 assists for 57 points. He has also appeared in 12 NHL games, scoring one goal and adding two assists. Raty is known for his strong two-way play and ability to contribute offensively.
Oilers' Outlook
The addition of Raty provides the Oilers with additional forward depth as they prepare for the upcoming season. The two-way contract allows flexibility, as Raty can be assigned to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors without waivers. Oilers general manager Stan Bowman expressed optimism about Raty's potential to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
Raty is expected to join the Oilers for training camp in the fall. The team is looking to build on a successful 2025-26 campaign that saw them reach the Western Conference Final.
