A 73-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 east of Chestermere, according to RCMP.
The crash occurred Wednesday morning at approximately 8 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 1 and Range Road 281. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene after reports of a serious motor vehicle collision.
The driver of one vehicle, a 73-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, was transported to a Calgary hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP from the Chestermere detachment are investigating the incident. A collision reconstructionist from the Southern Alberta District was called to assist in determining the cause of the crash.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
In a statement, Chestermere RCMP expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
