Nova Scotia RCMP have seized approximately $600,000 worth of drugs in Kings County, with the operation targeting illegal cannabis sales. The seizure included illegal cannabis and firearms, according to a statement released by the RCMP.
Details of the seizure
The RCMP's Federal Policing Criminal Operations Unit carried out the operation, which led to the confiscation of a significant quantity of cannabis products and several weapons. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet disclosed whether any arrests have been made.
This seizure is part of a broader effort by law enforcement to crack down on the illegal cannabis market in Nova Scotia. The RCMP emphasized that despite the legalization of cannabis in Canada, unlicensed sales remain illegal and pose risks to public safety.
“Illegal cannabis operations often involve other criminal activities, including the possession of firearms,” said a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia RCMP. “We remain committed to disrupting these networks and ensuring the safety of our communities.”
The drugs and firearms have been taken for forensic analysis, and further charges may be laid as the investigation progresses. The RCMP encourages anyone with information about illegal cannabis sales to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers.
