Premier Christine Fréchette confirmed on Thursday that the digital health record system will be rolled out at two CIUSSSs (Integrated Health and Social Services Centers) in Quebec. The announcement was made alongside Health Minister Sonia Bélanger in Montreal.
Details of the Rollout
The digital health record initiative aims to streamline patient data management and enhance the quality of care. The two CIUSSSs selected for the initial deployment were not named, but the government plans to expand the system province-wide in the coming years.
Fréchette emphasized that the digital records will allow healthcare professionals to access patient information more efficiently, reducing duplication of tests and improving diagnosis accuracy.
Benefits for Patients
Patients will benefit from faster access to their medical histories and better coordination among specialists. The system is also expected to reduce paperwork and administrative burdens on healthcare staff.
Health Minister Bélanger noted that the digital health record is a key component of the government's strategy to modernize Quebec's healthcare system.
