Husband Who Killed Miss Switzerland Finalist Gets Life

Marc Rieben, 42, has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of his wife, Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist. The crime involved dismemberment and pureeing of body parts in a blender.

Details of the Crime

Joksimovic, 38, was killed on February 13, 2024, during a heated argument about divorce and child custody. Rieben, who demanded full custody and refused alimony, strangled her and then methodically dismembered her body. He used an industrial blender to puree some body parts and dissolved others in chemical vats. Her father discovered the remains.

Court Proceedings

Judge Daniel Schmid remarked, "There are cases that make fiction become reality. This case has changed our reality." Rieben showed little remorse during the verdict but later apologized in court, saying, "What I did is absolutely unforgivable." A court-appointed psychiatrist noted Rieben's narcissistic traits and obsessive-compulsive disorder, stating he had never seen such a case in 33 years.

The victim's family expressed their grief through a statement read by lawyer Anina Hofer: "She was loving, protective of her children, and gave them everything. No verdict can bring our daughter back, but it can show that her life matters."
