Windsor Teen Arrested in Child Exploitation Sextortion Case

Windsor police have arrested a teenage boy who allegedly used intimate images of a 13-year-old girl to threaten and extort her through social media. The arrest took place on May 13 at a home in east Windsor, according to investigators.

Investigation Details

Members of the police Internet Child Exploitation Unit launched an investigation in January after receiving a report of online sexual exploitation and sextortion involving an underage female, as stated in a news release. The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, obtained intimate images of the 13-year-old victim and used them to threaten and extort her through social media messages.

Charges Filed

The teenager has been charged with five offences:

  • Extortion
  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Transmitting child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Publishing intimate images without consent

Windsor Police remind the community to avoid sharing intimate photos and videos online. Possessing and sharing intimate imagery involving anyone under 18 years old will likely result in criminal charges related to child sexual abuse and exploitation. Anyone experiencing threats, coercion, or exploitation online is encouraged to seek help from a trusted adult or report the incident to police.
