The Superyacht Eco Association SEA Index has announced a strategic collaboration with Italian company Nanni, aimed at bolstering an action-oriented approach within the global yachting industry. This alliance was formally presented during the 30th Captains' Forum at the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco, attracting a distinguished audience of captains, explorers, and international specialists.
Driving Environmental Action in Yachting
Nanni actively participated in a high-level panel discussion titled 'From Certification to Action: Tools for More Resilient Yachting'. The session delved into critical topics such as the real environmental impact of onboard systems, technical pathways to reduce emissions, and how certification frameworks like the SEA Index can guide the sector toward operational improvements and more informed investment decisions.
A New Starting Point for Sustainability
Natalie Quévert, General Secretary of the SEA Index, emphasized the significance of this partnership. "This collaboration between SEA Index and Nanni marks a new starting point for us," she stated. "Nanni has now become part of the SEA Index Alliance, which we're building with banks, insurance companies, and major players in the superyacht industry. What we admired about Nanni is their commitment to real innovation and technology."
Nanni, a family-owned company with a robust international presence, operates in over 92 countries through a network of more than 90 distributors and 700 service dealers worldwide. The firm is dedicated to innovation, focusing on creating value across the yachting sector, particularly in energy and propulsion systems.
Platform for Greener Navigation
Gregorio Passani, Chief Business Officer and General Manager at Nanni, highlighted the SEA Index's role as a vital platform. "We believe the SEA Index is an excellent platform to introduce our solutions and our company to the superyacht and mega yacht sector," he explained. "It provides the ideal opportunity to present to captains and industry stakeholders the complementarity and complexity of our offering. We aim to achieve concrete results through sustainable solutions that support a greener future for navigation."
Leading Framework for Environmental Certification
Developed by the Yacht Club de Monaco and deployed internationally across approximately twenty ports and marinas, the SEA Index has emerged as a leading framework for independent, scientifically verified environmental certification for superyachts. Its ambition is clear: to assist the sector in transitioning from metrics to measurable improvements, supporting owners, shipyards, marinas, and technology partners in adopting more sustainable solutions.
This partnership underscores a growing trend in the maritime industry toward eco-conscious practices, leveraging technology and collaboration to mitigate environmental impacts and foster a more resilient yachting community.
