Canada Gets Bacon Poutine Chips for FIFA World Cup by Lay's
Canada Gets Bacon Poutine Chips for FIFA World Cup

Lay's is launching four limited-edition potato chip flavours in Canada to celebrate the FIFA World Cup, with each flavour inspired by a participating nation's cuisine. The new offerings include a homegrown favourite: bacon poutine flavoured chips representing Canada, one of the host countries.

Canadian Flavour Features Bacon Poutine

The Canadian-inspired chips, called Lay's bacon poutine flavoured potato chips, feature the taste of rich brown gravy, creamy and salty cheese curds, and smoky bacon. The bag's cover showcases two Canadian national team players: Richie Laryea, a Toronto FC star fullback, and Nathan Saliba, who plays midfield for Belgium's Anderlecht. According to Lay's, this flavour is a celebration of Canada's most iconic comfort food.

Other World Cup-Inspired Flavours

In addition to the Canadian offering, Lay's has created three other flavours inspired by competing nations:

  • France: Lay's cheese soufflé flavoured potato chips, which deliver a creamy and sharp toasted cheese experience.
  • Argentina: As the reigning FIFA World Cup champions, Argentina is represented by Lay's steak & chimichurri flavoured potato chips, bringing tangy and herby chimichurri notes with a hint of grilled meaty flavour.
  • United Kingdom: The UK's most popular flavour, cheese and onion, is offered as Lay's cheese & onion flavoured potato chips, pairing sharp cheddar cheese with savoury onion.

Availability and Promotion

The limited-edition chips hit shelves in mid-May, ahead of the opening kick-off on June 11. They are part of Lay's 40-flavour potato chip drop globally, inspired by the cuisines of competing nations. Canadian fans can also purchase two participating Frito-Lay products and visit www.NoLaysNoGame.ca to upload their receipt for a chance to win two tickets to one of 13 Canadian FIFA World Cup 2026 matches taking place in Toronto and Vancouver, plus $1,500 CAD spending money.

This promotion allows fans to enjoy unique flavours while celebrating the global event. The chips are expected to be popular among consumers looking to taste a piece of the World Cup at home.
