Tropical Storm Amanda Marks the Start of Pacific Hurricane Season
Meteorologists have confirmed that Tropical Storm Amanda has become the first named storm of the Pacific hurricane season. The storm formed early Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
Robbie Berg, Warning Co-ordinator Meteorologist at the NHC, was seen working at the center in Miami on Monday, June 1, the official start of the hurricane season. The NHC is monitoring the storm's progress and providing updates to the public.
Tropical Storm Amanda is expected to bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the Pacific coast. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay informed and follow any guidance from local authorities.
The Pacific hurricane season typically runs from May 15 to November 30, with the peak occurring between July and September. The formation of Amanda serves as a reminder for coastal communities to prepare for potential storms.
Forecasters are also keeping an eye on other areas of potential development, but no other systems are currently expected to form in the immediate future. The NHC continues to issue regular updates as the situation evolves.
