A paddleboarder has drowned in Hayward Lake in Mission, British Columbia, according to local RCMP. The incident occurred on July 10, 2026, and authorities were called to the scene after reports of a person in distress on the water.

Mounties responded to Hayward Lake, a reservoir managed by BC Hydro, following a 911 call about a paddleboarder who had gone under the surface. Emergency crews arrived and located the individual, who was pulled from the water unconscious. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP have not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected at this time.
