The Calgary Stampede celebrated its final weekend by inducting four legends into its Hall of Fame on July 11 and 12, 2026. Chuckwagon driver Norm Cuthbertson, bareback rider Davey Shields Jr., legendary bucking horse Grated Coconut, and longtime journalist John Down were honored for their contributions to the event.

Hall of Fame Inductees Recognized

Norm Cuthbertson, a renowned chuckwagon driver, was inducted for his exceptional career in the Rangeland Derby. Davey Shields Jr., a celebrated bareback rider, earned his place among the greats. Grated Coconut, a legendary bucking horse known for its powerful performances, was also inducted. John Down, a veteran journalist for the Calgary Herald and Calgary Sun, was recognized for his decades of coverage of chuckwagon races.

Attendance and Weather

Friday saw 129,157 visitors pass through the gates of Stampede Park, bringing total attendance to 1,135,671. The Stampede is set to conclude with sunny skies: Saturday forecasted at 29°C and Sunday at 27°C with some clouds.

Music Highlights for July 11 and 12

On July 11, country music star Tanya Tucker performed at the Big Four Roadhouse, drawing crowds with her energetic set. Tucker, 67, rose to fame as a teenage prodigy in the early 1970s and has enjoyed a comeback since 2022, collaborating with Brandi Carlile and starring in a documentary. Folk-rock trio Rural Alberta Advantage played the Wildhorse Saloon on Saturday. The band, formed in Toronto by Edmonton-born Nils Edenloff, has deep Alberta roots, with songs referencing the 1987 Edmonton tornado and the Frank Slide.

On July 12, Toronto's The Beaches closed the Coca-Cola Stage festivities. The Juno-winning quartet, fresh from winning Band of the Year at the 2026 Juno Awards, interrupted their American tour for the performance. The band had previously rocked the same venue in 2024, showcasing their high-octane live act.

The Stampede also featured a guide to rodeo and chuckwagon competitions, as well as insights into its role as an agriculture educator. Visitors enjoyed signature eats beyond barbecue and mini-doughnuts.
