Several British Columbia hotels have been recognized among the world's finest in the 2026 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Hotels. Victoria's Abigail's Hotel secured the seventh spot globally and was named the top hotel in Canada.
Abigail's Hotel: A Tudor Gem
The 1930s Tudor mansion, an adult-only property with 30 rooms, also claimed the number one position in Canada last year. The hotel expressed pride and honour in its achievement, noting that it is the only Canadian hotel ranked in the global top 10. The hotel credited its dedicated team and loyal guests for making exceptional experiences possible.
Other Top B.C. Hotels
Joining Abigail's Hotel on the top Canadian list were Vancouver's Exchange Hotel at number three, the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino at number four, Vancouver's Loden Hotel at number five, and Sonora Resort on Sonora Island at number eight.
The Wickaninnish Inn also earned the fifth spot on the world luxury hotel rankings and was named the top luxury hotel in Canada. Sonora Resort came second in the Canadian luxury category, followed by the Loden Hotel at number five.
Charles McDiarmid, Maître de Maison and co-owner of the Wickaninnish Inn, stated that the awards are particularly meaningful because they come directly from guests. He expressed deep gratitude to guests and the dedicated team for their commitment to genuine hospitality.
Global Top Hotels
The number one hotel in the world was G.H. Universal Hotel in Bandung, Indonesia. Hotel Colline de France in Gramado, Brazil, placed second, and Hotel Sporting Family Hospitality in Livigno, Italy, took the third spot.
Top Experiences and Attractions
TripAdvisor also released a Best of the Best Things To Do list. Under Top Experiences in Canada, the Victoria Whale and Wildlife Cruise ranked second, the Victoria Guided Food and History Tour placed fifth, and Vancouver's The Grand Bicycle Tour by Cycle City Tours earned the seventh spot.
For Top Attractions in Canada, Victoria's Butchart Gardens came second, while Stanley Park in Vancouver ranked fifth.
The TripAdvisor lists celebrate the highest level of excellence in travel, awarded to locations that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews over a 12-month period. Fewer than one per cent of eight million listings achieve this milestone.
