Vancouver Pop Star Jessia Wins Prestigious Her Music Award with $10,000 Prize

Vancouver-based pop sensation Jessia has been named among the distinguished winners of the sixth annual Her Music Awards, securing a significant $10,000 cash prize alongside fellow Canadian music creators. The Juno Award-winning and multiplatinum artist, who first captured national attention with her breakthrough 2021 single I'm Not Pretty, received this honor in recognition of her remarkable career strides within the competitive music industry.

Celebrating Women and Gender-Diverse Creators in Canadian Music

The Her Music Awards, presented collaboratively by Anthem Music Group and the SOCAN Foundation, specifically honor and celebrate women and gender-diverse creators and industry professionals across Canada's vibrant music landscape. This year's recipients include Jessia, Quebec jazz vocalist Dominique Fils-Aimé, and Robyn Stewart of Women in Music Canada, each recognized for their unique contributions to advancing musical excellence and equity.

"I'm incredibly honored to be chosen for the Her Music Award," Jessia expressed in an official news release. "As a fully independent artist, support and recognition like this hits ten times harder. I hope my journey inspires other independent women in music to keep pushing and advocating for themselves, regardless of views, streams, ticket sales, or whatever challenges this industry throws their way."

Substantial Recognition for Artistic Achievement

Both Jessia and Fils-Aimé will receive not only the $10,000 financial award but also a complimentary one-year membership to the Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC). According to SOCAN Foundation Executive Director Charlie Wall-Andrews, these artists were selected for "making remarkable strides in their careers" and demonstrating exceptional artistic growth.

Robyn Stewart was separately recognized for her "outstanding leadership and continued commitment to advancing equity and opportunity within the Canadian music industry," Wall-Andrews added, highlighting the awards' broader mission to support both creators and advocates working toward greater inclusion.

Jessia's Rising Profile and Artistic Themes

With her signature single I'm Not Pretty accumulating more than 300 million global streams, Jessia has established herself as a powerful voice in contemporary pop music. Her songwriting consistently explores deeply personal themes including mental health awareness, self-acceptance, romantic relationships, and personal identity formation. The Vancouver artist has announced that her new EP is scheduled for release next month, marking another milestone in her evolving career.

Fellow Award Recipient's Ongoing Success

Dominique Fils-Aimé, a two-time Juno Award winner, continues to build her international reputation with her latest studio album My World Is The Sun. The Quebec jazz singer is currently embarking on a world tour in support of the album, with a scheduled performance at Vancouver's Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chan Chun Concert Hall.

The Her Music Awards represent a growing commitment within Canada's music industry to recognize and financially support underrepresented creators. By providing both monetary awards and professional development opportunities through SAC membership, the program aims to foster sustainable careers for women and gender-diverse artists navigating the complex music business landscape.
