Shania Twain Returns to Her Roots with New Album 'Little Miss Twain'
Shania Twain's New Album 'Little Miss Twain' Out July 24

Canadian country-pop star Shania Twain is returning to her roots — both musically and emotionally — with her upcoming seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain. The five-time Grammy winner and best-selling female country-pop artist of all time has announced the record, which is being hailed as the most honest version of Twain to date.

The Timmins, Ontario-raised hitmaker says the album marks a full-circle moment, revisiting her early influences and the young artist she once was. Musically, the album weaves together country, pop, rock, soul and bluegrass sounds that inspired her when she started singing at age eight in local bars.

Little Miss Twain is set for release on July 24 via Republic Nashville, with the bold lead single Dirty Rosie already available. The deeply personal record promises to be her most self-referential and introspective work, stripping away polish in favor of truth and lived experience.

A Return to Her Canadian Roots

“A lot of Little Miss Twain is reflective of my teens, my roots, and the rock and R&B I loved so much,” Twain said. “It still has that Western twang. Where I’m from, though, you don’t go anywhere on a horse — you go on a snowmobile. I was dreaming about a Western lifestyle while living in a very different world.”

The album also revisits her childhood, including the loss of her parents when she was 22. Speaking to People magazine, Twain explained: “It’s a reflection of my childhood, the environment I grew up in. There’s a lot of descriptive language. My fans only know Shania from my first records… My first hit wasn’t until I was 30. So there’s a whole lot of Shania they don’t know about, and that’s what the new music’s about.”

Opening for Harry Styles and More

Ahead of the album’s release, the 60-year-old singer is returning to the stage on an epic scale. She is set to join Harry Styles for a 12-night stand at London’s Wembley Stadium in June and July, before crossing to Ireland for a headlining performance at Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick.

From the start of her career, Twain has broken rules. She reshaped the sound and reach of country music, opening the door for crossover success in pop. She became the first artist in history to release three consecutive Diamond-certified albums: The Woman in Me (1995), Come On Over (1997), and Up! (2002).

A Journey from Deerhurst to Nashville

In the early 1990s, Twain left a job singing at Deerhurst Resort in Ontario for Nashville — a gamble that led to global stardom. “The courage that it took to go into the unknown came from knowing that I didn’t really have anything to go back to,” she told Postmedia in 2023. “My parents were gone, and my siblings were going on with their own lives. What was my purpose now? It was to follow my dreams and my vision.”

Little Miss Twain continues a celebratory run that began with 2023’s Queen of Me, which Twain called her “happy album.” After an extended break due to Lyme disease and her split from producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the 12-time Juno winner has enjoyed a resurgence with Vegas residencies, a Netflix documentary, and timeless music.

Yet for all her achievements, Little Miss Twain stands apart. It is her most self-referential and introspective work — an album that strips away polish in favor of truth, reflection, and lived experience. The album is available for pre-order now.
