Noah Kahan makes Toronto fans promise not to poop pants at show

Noah Kahan has a blunt message for fans who need to use the bathroom during his shows: please do not defecate on the floor. The folk-pop singer, currently on a North American stadium tour supporting his album The Great Divide, addressed the issue directly during his Sunday night performance at Rogers Stadium in Toronto.

Kahan's onstage plea to 50,000 fans

“This is awkward and this is fresh in more ways than one,” Kahan said from the stage. “When you enter this building, you enter a social contract … Rule no. 2, besides, don’t literally f***ing kill each other, is don’t s*** on the floor.” He then led the crowd of approximately 50,000 in a mock oath: “I solemnly swear. I will not s*** my pants. And if I do, I won’t take it from my pants and put it on the floor.”

Viral incident in Philadelphia sparked the warning

Kahan’s unusual request came after viral footage from his Philadelphia concert on Friday night showed a fan near the stage allegedly defecating on the floor. According to a bystander, the person reportedly “acted like nothing happened” and did not want to miss any songs. Security was called to remove the individual. “One of the most unreal concert experiences I’ve ever witnessed,” the bystander wrote on social media.

Kahan saw the online chatter and responded on X, writing, “If that’s what tour is going to be like, I’m going to need to buy significantly more boxers.” He later added, “If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao. I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29-year-old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.” He also joked, “I s*** myself onstage in Charlottesville, but that’s because I am dedicated to my craft.”

Toronto show was incident-free

Fortunately for Kahan and the venue staff, the Toronto concert remained poop-free. After the show, Kahan posted on X early Monday, “Toronto f***ing insane,” praising the crowd for their behavior.

Fans wearing diapers is a growing trend

Kahan’s reminder that bathrooms exist follows similar complaints from other artists. Olivia Rodrigo recently said during a stop at KISS FM UK studios that she has “been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show. That’s been an experience of a performer that I have smelled and experienced.” During Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, several fans documented wearing adult diapers on TikTok, according to the New York Post. “For the amount of stress and time it took for me to get Taylor Swift tickets, I will be getting an adult diaper because I’m not missing a minute of it,” one fan said. Another shared, “The diaper rash and trench foot was worth this moment of Taylor Swift looking right at us.”
