Zendaya Plans Extended Break from Hollywood Following Packed 2026 Schedule
Acclaimed actor and Primetime Emmy winner Zendaya has announced she will be stepping away from the spotlight for a significant period after completing an exceptionally busy year of high-profile releases in 2026. The revelation came during a recent interview with Fandango, where the star candidly discussed her upcoming projects and personal plans.
A Much-Needed Pause After a String of Major Releases
Zendaya confirmed she has five substantial film and television projects scheduled for release next year, creating what she described as "one hell of a run." The lineup includes the dramatic feature "The Drama," the anticipated science fiction sequel "Dune: Part Three," the superhero installment "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the adventure film "The Odyssey," and the third season of HBO's critically acclaimed series "Euphoria."
"I'll tell you what, after this, I'm disappearing for a little bit," Zendaya stated emphatically. "I'm going to have to go into hiding for just a little bit." She expressed warm gratitude toward her supporters while humorously acknowledging the potential for audience fatigue, saying, "I hope people don't get sick of me" after this stream of releases.
The actor made sure to thank her fanbase sincerely, adding, "I really appreciate everyone who supports any of the movies or supports my career in any kind of way. I'm deeply appreciative." Fans need not worry about an indefinite absence, however, as Zendaya is already confirmed to return to cinema screens in 2027 for the animated feature "Shrek 5," where she will star alongside Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz.
Addressing Persistent Marriage Rumors with Tom Holland
Zendaya's announcement about her professional hiatus arrives amidst ongoing speculation about her personal life, particularly rumors that she secretly married her fiancé and "Spider-Man" co-star Tom Holland. The couple first publicly confirmed their relationship in 2021 and became engaged in late 2024.
Gossip intensified earlier this month when Zendaya was photographed wearing what appeared to be a wedding band on her left hand during high-profile events including the 2026 Oscars and Paris Fashion Week. Neither Zendaya nor Holland have directly addressed or confirmed these marriage rumors, and their representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
During a March 16 appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," host Jimmy Kimmel directly referenced the speculation, telling Zendaya that "the internet has gone berserk with stories" about her possibly being married to Holland. The actor responded with a playful smile and apparent surprise, stating, "Really? I haven't seen any of that."
Zendaya also took the opportunity to address the proliferation of fake AI-generated images depicting her wedding ceremony with Holland that have circulated online in recent weeks. "Many people have been fooled by them," she told Kimmel. "While I was just out and about in real life and people are like, 'Oh my God, your wedding photos are gorgeous,' and I was like, 'Babe, they're AI. They're not real.'"
The combination of her planned professional break and the continued speculation about her relationship status ensures that Zendaya remains firmly in the public eye even as she prepares to temporarily step back from her demanding Hollywood schedule.
