President Donald Trump over the weekend posted a brief tribute to his late friend, pro wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, who died last year at the age of 71. However, the message, posted on Truth Social, contained a glaring error: Trump accidentally botched Hogan's legendary 'Hulkster' nickname, misspelling it in a way that completely flipped the meaning.
The Misspelled Tribute
'We all miss the Huckster!' Trump wrote as he shared an image of Hogan holding up a championship belt after a match. The typo transformed the iconic nickname into 'Huckster,' a term that often refers to a dishonest salesman or someone who promotes something aggressively, a stark contrast to Hogan's heroic persona.
Hogan's Legacy and Controversies
Hogan died last July after going into cardiac arrest at his Florida home. The medical report noted a history of atrial fibrillation, which causes an irregular heartbeat, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a cancer of the blood cells. He was known for his charismatic over-the-top personality in the ring, but also attracted controversy outside of it, including racist comments made while being secretly filmed for a sex tape. Hogan later apologized and insisted he is not racist.
Political Ties
In 2015, when Trump announced his first bid for the presidency, Hogan publicly lobbied to be his running mate. In 2024, he not only endorsed Trump but also spoke on his behalf at the Republican National Convention. The misspelling comes as a reminder of the close relationship between the two, despite the error.
