Sabrina Carpenter Granted Restraining Order Against Alleged Stalker

Pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man she claims has been stalking her, following an alleged attempt to break into her Hollywood Hills home. The 27-year-old singer filed a petition for a civil harassment restraining order against William Applegate in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday, according to legal documents obtained by Rolling Stone.

Alleged Break-In Attempt Caught on Camera

Carpenter's legal team presented doorbell camera footage showing Applegate, 31, at the singer's front door on May 23, where he appears to try to forcibly open it. The Grammy winner's security guard confronted Applegate, who refused to leave, claiming he knew Carpenter and that she was expecting him. The documents describe these claims as "outrageous and entirely false." The man remained at the scene until police officers arrived.

LAPD Detective Peter Doomanis noted in the documents that Applegate "developed a disturbing and irrational fixation on" Carpenter, according to the outlet. "The pattern of his conduct, which may have begun as early as approximately April 20, 2026, reflects the hallmarks of a fixated, obsessional individual," Doomanis wrote. "This trajectory is consistent with well-documented patterns of stalking behavior that pose a serious and escalating risk to victim safety."

Return to the Neighborhood

Despite Applegate's arrest for suspicion of trespassing, he returned to the neighborhood over the next two days but left once police officers responded, Carpenter claimed. "His delusional insistence that he knows me and was expected by me is indicative of a dangerous, delusional and irrational fixation on me," the "Manchild" songstress wrote, noting that his behavior has become increasingly troubling. "His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I am in fear of what he may do if he is not restrained by this court," the former Girl Meets World actress wrote in her declaration requesting the restraining order.

Court Order and Upcoming Hearings

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge prohibited Applegate from being within 100 yards of Carpenter, according to Monday's order. The order also applies to the singer's sister Sarah Carpenter and Sarah's partner, who also live in the residence. A follow-up court hearing on extending the order is set for June 17. Applegate is due in criminal court on June 18 for his arrest for criminal trespassing.
