Russell Brand Faces Two New Rape Charges, Bringing Total to Seven
Russell Brand Charged with Two Additional Sex Offences

British comedian and actor Russell Brand is confronting a deepening legal crisis after UK authorities filed two additional criminal charges against him this week. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the new allegations of rape and sexual assault, which relate to two more women.

Expanding Case and Court Dates

The 50-year-old media personality, who previously pleaded not guilty to five charges involving four women, now faces a total of seven charges connected to six alleged victims. The new charges were announced by police on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Brand is scheduled to appear in court regarding these latest allegations on January 20.

His trial for the initial five charges is already set to begin on June 16, 2025. Those original charges include two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The alleged incidents for the original case span from 1999 to 2005.

Specific Allegations and Police Investigation

According to prosecutors, one of the initial rape charges stems from an alleged attack in a hotel room in Bournemouth in 1999. Another charge involves the alleged oral rape and sexual assault of a woman in central London in 2004.

The police investigation was launched following a documentary by Channel 4 that aired serious allegations against Brand. Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi stated that all women who have come forward continue to receive support from specially trained officers. He emphasized the investigation remains active and encouraged anyone with information to contact authorities.

Brand's Public Response and Personal Evolution

Following the initial charges in April 2025, Brand addressed his followers in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). He vehemently denied any non-consensual activity, stating, "I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was a rapist." He expressed gratitude for the chance to defend himself in court.

Once a prominent left-leaning commentator and Hollywood star, Brand has significantly rebranded himself in recent years. He now positions himself as a conservative social media influencer to his millions of followers and has spoken publicly about his conversion to Christianity, including being baptized in the River Thames last year.

Brand's career began in stand-up comedy as a teenager, leading to roles as an MTV presenter and host of a Big Brother spin-off. His tenure at BBC Radio 2 ended in 2008 after a scandal involving a prank call to actor Andrew Sachs.
