Carlos PenaVega Finds Common Ground in Grief: Daughter's Stillbirth and Charlie Kirk's Death

In a deeply personal and unexpected revelation, actor and singer Carlos PenaVega has drawn a poignant parallel between the tragic loss of his infant daughter and the violent death of prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk. During a recent podcast appearance, PenaVega opened up about how both losses have created what he describes as a "waterfall effect" of lasting impact.

A Father's Heartbreak and Unexpected Connections

Carlos PenaVega and his wife, actress Alexa PenaVega, appeared together on the "Upload with Brooke Taylor" podcast this week, where they spoke extensively about their fourth child, Indy, who was delivered as a stillborn in April 2024. The couple confirmed the devastating news on social media at the time, writing in a joint Instagram post: "It has been a painful journey. But in the pain we have found peace."

During the emotional interview, Alexa PenaVega mentioned another couple who had recently lost their 10-year-old child named Taven. Carlos PenaVega then expanded on this theme of loss, noting that both Taven and Indy's deaths had created profound ripple effects that continued to touch lives long after their passing.

"I think what's been amazing is that Taven, and then even our Indy, and then even recently, Charlie Kirk," PenaVega reflected. "Like these guys, their lives have been so much more impactful after."

The Conservative Connection and Personal Reflections

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the right-wing political organization Turning Point USA and a prominent ally of former President Donald Trump, was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, during an appearance at Utah Valley University. While PenaVega's comparison might seem surprising to some, it reflects his own contemplation about legacy and impact.

"I look at my life, and I go if this ceiling were to... if that were to fall on me right now and I'm gone... I want to make sure whatever happens to me, that when I do go, man, it would be awesome that my life is as impactful, if not more, afterwards," PenaVega added during the podcast interview.

Career, Family, and Political Leanings

Carlos PenaVega, now 36, first rose to fame in 2009 as one of the stars of Nickelodeon's "Big Time Rush" and continues to perform with the pop band of the same name. He and Alexa PenaVega share three living children and have collaborated on several television films together, including "Get Him Back for Christmas" and "Love in the Limelight."

While PenaVega has never formally endorsed Donald Trump, he has been increasingly vocal about his conservative views in recent years. In 2022, he appeared on "The Right View" podcast hosted by Lara Trump, the former president's daughter-in-law. During the 2024 presidential election, he shared on Instagram that his son Kingston had "asked if he could add a prayer for Donald Trump."

When the post attracted criticism from some fans, Alexa PenaVega clarified in the comments that Kingston had actually "asked us if he could pray for both trump and Kamala [Harris]," adding: "It was beautiful."

Finding Meaning in Tragedy

The PenaVegas' Instagram announcement about their daughter's stillbirth included heartfelt words about their loss: "This little girl has already changed our lives in so many ways. She was absolutely beautiful. And looked just like daddy." They acknowledged the difficult questions that accompany such tragedies, writing: "We can't understand why these things happen and we may never get those answers."

Through his podcast comments, Carlos PenaVega appears to be processing his grief by finding connections between different forms of loss and contemplating how lives can continue to influence others even after death. His comparison between his daughter's stillbirth and Charlie Kirk's violent death represents an unusual but deeply personal perspective on mortality, legacy, and the enduring impact individuals can have on those they leave behind.
