A former funnyman known as Boo Boo has been sentenced to 39 years in prison for a series of horrific crimes against a child. The twisted individual, whose real name is Bobbie Arthur Owen, was convicted on 22 counts of child sexual assault in Oregon.
Sentencing and Conviction
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Deborah Lobre handed down the 39-year sentence. The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office revealed that Owen began sexually molesting a girl on a regular basis when she was just 11 years old. The victim, now an adult, endured years of abuse.
Details of the Abuse
The abuse started after Owen's clowning career ended. At the time, he worked as a contractor and later dabbled in insurance sales before becoming a truck driver in 2009. According to the Sacramento Bee, Owen attempted sexual intercourse with the victim when she was 15, and the abuse continued until she turned 18. The victim told Citrus Heights police in 2024, when she was 32, that she had endured hundreds of sexual encounters with Owen.
Investigation and Confession
The victim's only relief came when Owen moved to California for work. Police arrested him in Meridian, Idaho, in November 2024. He had lived there since 2008. Owen quickly confessed to his crimes after discussing the abuse with the victim on the phone. He was extradited to California in February 2025 and held without bond until his conviction in May. His trial and sentencing took only three days, and it is almost certain he will never leave prison alive.
Background of the Perpetrator
Owen performed as Boo Boo from 1994 to 2002, mostly in Springfield and Eugene, Oregon. After his clowning days, he moved to Citrus Heights near Sacramento, coincidentally the same suburb where the Golden State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo, once lived.
