Meghan and Harry Celebrate Lilibet's 5th Birthday with New Photos
Lilibet Turns 5: Meghan and Harry Share New Portraits

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are celebrating their daughter's birthday with new photos. Lilibet Diana turned five on Thursday, and the Duchess of Sussex marked the occasion with a new post on Instagram.

New Portraits of Lilibet

The first photo shows Lilibet being held by her father Harry while Meghan looks on, both parents beaming at their little girl. The second is a solo shot of their daughter, barefoot again and wearing a pale green embroidered eyelet dress as she gazes at a gorgeous purple flower in what appears to be the family's Montecito home. In both images, Lilibet's signature red hair is loose, concealing her face just enough in keeping with Meghan's choice not to expose her children fully on social media.

"Our dream girl. Happy 5th birthday, Lili," Meghan captioned the images along with a love heart emoji.

A Life Away from the Spotlight

Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021, in California, a year and a half after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties and moved to the United States. Her older brother Archie, now 7, was born in the U.K. on May 6, 2019. While Harry and Meghan are raising their children away from the spotlight, Meghan has shared many glimpses of both Lilibet and Archie on social media.

In a May 16 Instagram post, Meghan shared a mirror selfie from her walk-in closet, where she wore a lilac dress with matching coat as her daughter knelt at her feet. "Mama's little helper," she captioned the post. Before that, Meghan's birthday tribute to Archie showed a photo of Harry snuggling with their son as a newborn, while the second snap showed the backs of Archie and Lilibet walking along a beach. Meghan also shared a photo of Lili and Harry for Valentine's Day, and their daughter was credited with taking a video of the couple dancing barefoot in grass.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Meghan spoke about their family life in an interview with PEOPLE last year. "Once you know us, I think you want us to have the same normalcy as parents and for our children as they do, despite however unique our situation is," she said. At the time, she was launching her brand, As Ever, and about to film her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. "Being able to have my own little girl, as I've spent so much of my life championing the rights of girls and women, and to be able to see this as a multi-generational story ... I love the heritage feeling of it and knowing this is something that I can create in front of my daughter and teach her what it's like to be a working mom," she told the publication. "This is something that hopefully can be part of her legacy too."
