Ex-Nickelodeon Star Tylor Chase Hospitalized for Detox After Fan's TikTok Video
Homeless ex-Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase hospitalized

In a poignant turn of events, former Nickelodeon child star Tylor Chase has been admitted to a hospital for a critical three-day medical detox. This urgent intervention came to light after a fan recognized the homeless actor in Riverside, California, and shared a video on TikTok, sparking a chain of events that led to his hospitalization.

An Intervention Sparked by Social Media

The situation reached a critical point when Chase's father, Joseph Mendez Jr., reached out for help. He contacted influencer Jacob "Jake" Harris, known for assisting other individuals battling addiction. Harris, who previously aided former Mighty Ducks actor Shaun Weiss, took on the case.

"We finally got Tylor the help he needed," Harris announced in an Instagram video on December 26, 2025. He detailed to the Daily Mail that he was able to connect with a crisis centre that performed a same-day evaluation. The professionals determined Chase required immediate assistance.

"They determined he needed immediate help and brought him to a local hospital for 72-hour treatment," Harris explained. "He's currently receiving medical attention to get him healthy, to get him all better. He's in good care now. And the future is looking bright. He just needed someone to actually do something to help."

A History of Mental Health and Addiction Struggles

This is not the first time Chase's family has sought treatment for him. His father, Mendez, revealed that his son's challenges are deeply connected to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. These conditions have fueled a battle with substance abuse.

Mendez managed to get Chase into a rehabilitation facility in Georgia back in 2021. However, the actor rejected the treatment plan, relapsed into substance use, and subsequently returned to California to live with his mother. His descent into homelessness followed, culminating in the viral TikTok encounter.

Will This Time Be Different?

The path to this latest hospitalization was delicate. Harris spent over an hour speaking with Chase, during which family and friends called to encourage him to accept help. Shaun Weiss, who witnessed Harris's efforts, noted the difficulty of establishing rapport given Chase's state.

"Jake had established a conversation with him and was working on establishing a rapport, which is difficult — and it can be tricky — considering the state that Tylor's in," Weiss told the Mail. Initially, Chase was hesitant, even stating, "I like my life the way it is."

Despite this, Weiss observed a shift. "He said that Tylor seemed to be very receptive to getting treatment and to the idea of going into a detox." The immediate plan involves the 72-hour hospital detox, but it remains unclear where Chase will be transferred afterward for longer-term care. The intervention offers a fragile hope for the actor best known for his role on Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
