Rapper Gucci Mane Allegedly Kidnapped and Robbed in Texas Studio by Fellow Artists
In a shocking incident that has rocked the music industry, renowned rapper Gucci Mane was allegedly kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint in a Texas recording studio. The alleged perpetrators are fellow rappers Pooh Sheisty and Big30, along with seven other individuals, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Details of the Alleged Crime
The incident occurred in Dallas, where the victims believed they were meeting to discuss the terms of Pooh Sheisty's recording contract. Instead, the defendants are accused of orchestrating a violent takeover. Ryan Raybould, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, stated, "Instead of discussing business in a civil matter, the defendants resorted to violence and intimidation to achieve their purported business objectives."
According to the complaint, the group "executed a coordinated armed takeover" and produced an AK-style pistol. One victim was forced at gunpoint to sign a release form from his recording contract. The other conspirators allegedly displayed firearms and robbed the victims of high-value items, including Rolex watches, jewelry, and cash.
Violent Tactics and Aftermath
The violence escalated during the incident, with one victim being choked to the point of near unconsciousness. Big30 allegedly barricaded the studio door with his body to prevent any escape attempts. Within hours of leaving the studio, several defendants reportedly showed off stolen items on social media, according to the complaint.
Pooh Sheisty's father, Lontrell Williams Sr., is among the nine defendants and is accused of helping plan and execute the kidnapping. The other suspects include Kedarius Waters, Terrance Rodgers, Damarian Gipson, Demarcus Glover, Kordae Johnson, and Darrion McDaniel.
Legal Background and Charges
At the time of the incident, Pooh Sheisty was on "home detention" for a prior firearms conspiracy charge and conviction from the Southern District of Florida. The rapper, known for the hit "Back in Blood," was previously signed to Gucci Mane's 1017 record label and has gained notoriety for inspiring the Shiesty masks worn by many NFL players.
All nine defendants face charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. If convicted, each could receive a sentence of up to life in prison. The case highlights ongoing concerns about violence and criminal activity within certain segments of the music industry.
The investigation continues as authorities work to gather additional evidence and prepare for trial. The music community and fans await further developments in this high-profile case that has drawn national attention.
