Jimmy Fallon, host of "The Tonight Show," poked fun at President Donald Trump's apparent nap during an NBA Finals game, suggesting the upcoming UFC event at the White House might keep him awake. "The UFC fight will be a nice change for Trump," Fallon said on Thursday. "He can go from sleeping inside a sporting event to outside."
Trump's Nap at NBA Game
Trump's brief nap during Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden has become a recurring joke. The UFC event, scheduled for Sunday on the White House lawn, coincides with Trump's 80th birthday and is promoted as a celebration of the nation's 250th birthday. Fallon implied that staying awake through the fights could redeem Trump's earlier snooze.
Criticism of the Event
However, not everyone views the event positively. Edward Lengel, chief historian of the White House Historical Association during Trump's first term, condemned the fight card. "It transcends the bounds of tastelessness, and it sullies the image of this country, and what the White House should represent," Lengel said.
The event has also faced challenges in attracting high-profile celebrities, with many declining invitations. The president's attempts to boast about attendees have reportedly fallen flat.
