CBS to Air Prime-Time Town Hall with Erika Kirk, Widow of Slain Activist Charlie Kirk
Erika Kirk to Speak in CBS Town Hall on Dec. 13

The widow of assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk is set to share her story in a high-profile televised event. CBS News will host a prime-time "town hall" featuring Erika Kirk on December 13, 2025, where she will speak about the aftermath of her husband's killing.

A Conversation Moderated by Bari Weiss

The network confirmed that the event will be moderated by Bari Weiss, the new editor-in-chief of CBS News and founder of The Free Press website. Weiss was hired by the network's new corporate owner, Skydance Media, in a move perceived as an effort to add political balance to the news division.

"Like so many people around the world, I will never forget the moment that Erika Kirk forgave her husband’s killer," Weiss stated. "I am eager to speak to her — and thrilled to be doing so in front of a group of Americans who I know will elevate the conversation."

Erika Kirk's Pledge to Continue Charlie's Mission

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the influential conservative group Turning Point USA, was assassinated by gunshot on September 10, 2025, while addressing college students at Utah Valley University. In the wake of his death, his wife has publicly vowed to carry on his work.

In a recent livestream on Turning Point USA's YouTube channel, which drew over 3.5 million viewers, Erika Kirk delivered a powerful message to her husband's opponents. "You have no idea what you have unleashed," she warned. "The evil-doers for my husband’s assassination have no idea what they have done."

Speaking from the studio where her husband produced The Charlie Kirk Show, she connected his murder to his message. "They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s love," she said. "You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife." The mother of two promised that her husband's name and the movement he built would not be forgotten.

Event Details and Lasting Impact

The town hall will be pre-taped at a New York studio. Erika Kirk will take questions from a select audience including evangelicals and religious and political leaders. The special is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. on December 13, preceding the Family Film and TV Awards, which have been delayed by a week for this broadcast.

Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA as a teenager in 2012, and it grew into one of America's most potent conservative movements. His suspected killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was arrested after his father turned him in to authorities.

This televised event marks a significant moment for both CBS News under its new leadership and for the political landscape, offering a platform for Erika Kirk to address the nation directly as she steps into a more public role following the tragedy.
