Former Child Star Danny Pintauro Delivers for Amazon Amid Hollywood Slowdown

Danny Pintauro, best known for his role as Jonathan Bower on the hit 1980s sitcom Who's the Boss?, is getting candid about the harsh realities of life after child stardom. The 50-year-old actor recently shared an Instagram selfie from his current side hustle delivering packages for Amazon Flex, revealing that the entertainment industry has been "soooo slow" and forcing him to take on alternative work to make ends meet.

A Practical Solution in a Struggling Industry

In his social media post, Pintauro did not sugarcoat his situation. "Working hard while 'not working.' The entertainment business has been soooo slow," he wrote. "I've been doing what a lot of people do — figuring it out, showing up, and taking the work that's there while I keep building the work I really want. 38 packages today! There's no shame in staying in motion."

The actor explained to Fox News Digital that returning to Hollywood after a decade-long break has been a wake-up call. "Returning to acting after a 10-year break has meant stepping back into an industry that looks very different than it once did," he said. "There are fewer projects being made, and a trickle-down effect ... is cutting many actors off from what work there is."

Financial Realities and Industry Changes

Even with a recognizable name from his eight-season run on Who's the Boss?, Pintauro finds himself facing financial insecurity. "Having a recognizable name does not automatically come with work or financial security, so it feels a bit like I'm starting over," he noted, adding that most of his income over the past 15 years has come from residuals, which are "far less substantial than people often assume."

His Amazon Flex gig comes at a time when film and TV production in Los Angeles is slowing down significantly. According to industry reports, rising costs and better tax incentives elsewhere are pushing productions out of California, with officials now considering boosting tax credits to keep projects local.

Anonymity and Fan Reactions

For Pintauro, the delivery job offers practical benefits. It provides flexibility so he can still attend auditions, and it also grants him a degree of anonymity. "I take a picture and walk away. No one sees me," he told Today.com.

Fans online have responded with support and humor. One user commented, "I would be on cloud nine if I opened my door and it was you lol those customers better be appreciative!!!" while another added, "I would faint if I opened the door and you were standing there."

Pintauro starred alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, Alyssa Milano, and the late Katherine Helmond on the beloved ABC sitcom that ran from 1984 to 1992. His candid revelations highlight the challenges many actors face in a rapidly evolving entertainment landscape, where even former child stars must adapt to survive.
