Colin Jost Reveals Barack Obama in Phone, Jokes About Third Trump Term
Colin Jost: Obama in Contacts, Trump Third Term Joke

Colin Jost, the "Saturday Night Live" star and "Weekend Update" co-host, caused laughter while promoting his return as host of "Pop Culture Jeopardy." In a video published Monday, Jost revealed some surprisingly famous contacts in his phone and admitted he once thought a world-renowned politician would become his best friend.

Most Famous Contact: His Wife

When asked who the most famous person in his phone is, Jost laughed and said, "Probably the one labeled 'wife.'" He has been married to Marvel star Scarlett Johansson since 2020. But he added, "I do have some really weird ones, though, 'cause you just, you know, at 'SNL' you end up working really intensely with someone for like a week. And sometimes you like almost feel like, maybe this person's going to be my best [friend]!"

Barack Obama: A Potential Best Friend?

Jost admitted thinking, "Maybe I'm going to talk to Barack Obama all the time!" The former president appeared on "SNL" in 2007 during his first presidential campaign, participating in a cold open sketch about Hillary Clinton's Halloween party. Obama also delivered the iconic line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday night!" He returned to the show in 2023 for an unannounced cameo.

Jost has worked on "SNL" since 2005 as a writer and "Weekend Update" co-host. He confessed that his phone contacts have led to awkward moments, especially with rapper Jack Harlow. "One of my good friends, his name is Jack Howard, and he's in my phone right next to Jack Harlow," Jost explained. "And so sometimes if I'm scrolling, I'll call my friend Jack, which I do a lot, and I'll just hit Jack Harlow. And then I'm like, 'Oh God, he just got like a weird missed call from me at like 11 p.m.' And I'm sure he's like, 'Dude, this 'SNL' guy's got to let it go.'"

Jost's Recent Comments on Donald Trump

Obama isn't the only president Jost has discussed recently. He shocked "Subway Takes" host Kareem Rahma by predicting President Donald Trump will "get" a third unconstitutional term. Jost recalled wagering as much when Trump ran in 2020, saying, "I was like, if he gets elected, it's for eight years." He added, "He's going to have something where he's like, 'Democrats stole my first term because of the impeachment, so I didn't even have a first term, so this is actually like my first term, so I get one more.'" Trump has frequently commented on running for a third term, which is unconstitutional under the 22nd Amendment.
