Chappell Roan Addresses Security Guard Incident Involving Jude Law's Daughter
Pop sensation Chappell Roan has issued a public response to allegations made by soccer star Jorginho, who claimed that one of her security guards spoke aggressively to his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada Law, during an encounter at a hotel in Brazil. The incident reportedly left the young girl in tears, sparking widespread discussion on social media platforms.
Jorginho's Viral Instagram Allegations
Jorginho, who currently plays for Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro, took to his Instagram Story to describe what he called a "very upsetting situation." According to his account, his wife and daughter were staying at the same hotel as Roan during the Lollapalooza Brasil music festival. Jorginho explained that his daughter had recognized the singer at breakfast and became excited, but did not approach her.
"My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her," Jorginho wrote. "She simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn't say anything, didn't ask for anything."
However, Jorginho alleged that a "large" security guard then confronted his wife and daughter, speaking in what he described as an "extremely aggressive manner" and accusing the girl of harassing and disrespecting the artist. The soccer player's Instagram post quickly went viral, drawing significant attention to the incident.
Roan's Detailed Response and Apology
Chappell Roan responded with two videos posted to her own Instagram Stories, offering her perspective on what transpired. The "Hot to Go!" singer emphasized that she had no direct involvement in the confrontation and was unaware of the mother and child's presence.
"I'm just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security," Roan stated. "I didn't even see a woman and a child. Like, I did not – no one came up to me, no one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel."
Roan clarified that she did not instruct the security guard to approach the family and expressed regret over the situation. "I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child," she said. "They did not come up to me. They weren't doing anything. It's just unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions."
Addressing Misconceptions and Offering Sympathy
The pop star took the opportunity to address broader misconceptions about her attitude toward fans, particularly younger ones. "I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, like that is crazy," Roan asserted.
She concluded her message with a direct apology to the affected family: "I'm sorry to that mother and child that someone was assuming something that you would do something and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. That makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."
The incident highlights the complex dynamics between celebrities, their security teams, and fans in public spaces, particularly when children are involved. Both Jorginho's allegations and Roan's response have generated significant discussion about appropriate security protocols and celebrity-fan interactions.
