Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo's wife speaks out after his gay reveal
Caleb Shomo's wife breaks silence after his coming out

Fleur Shomo, the wife of Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo, has broken her silence after the rocker publicly came out as a "proudly gay man." In an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, she addressed the difficult months leading up to his revelation and expressed her unwavering support for him.

Fleur Shomo's emotional response

"Not really sure how to start this 'cause does anything even need to be said? But I guess I'll just dive right in," Fleur began. She described the past few months as "a very disorientating and hurtful time to navigate" for both of them. "But I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world," she wrote.

She revealed how difficult it has been to witness his internal struggle: "to see the confusion and pain he went through," while acknowledging her own pain. "You never want anything more for your person than for them to just be ok," she explained. "You also ask yourself constantly if you're a bad person for wondering wtf this means for your world & the anger you also feel. I am the only person that is having to deal with the duality of this situation."

Caleb Shomo's coming out

Earlier that day, Caleb posted a lengthy statement on Instagram addressing his sexuality and its connection to his music, without mentioning his wife. "There's been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late, and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further," he wrote. "I am a proudly gay man. This is something I've been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now."

His announcement followed speculation that emerged in March after the release of Beartooth's single "Free" from their upcoming album Pure Ecstasy. The music video featured a new look for the singer. Shortly after, Caleb deleted his Instagram account when Attila frontman Chris Fronzak made a homophobic remark. Fronzak later apologized, stating, "I meant it as a joke, not a jab at gay people."

Reflecting on 14 years of marriage

In her post, Fleur also reflected on their 14-year marriage, calling it "wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love." She acknowledged the complexity of her feelings: "To support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out. You can love and support your person through the hardest time in their life, whilst also be completely demolished & lose yourself at the same time." She added, "Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do. Our story was a good one. And now it's done."
