Britney Spears' Rep Denies Restaurant Meltdown, Calls Claims 'Ridiculous'
Britney Spears Rep Denies Restaurant Meltdown Claims

A representative for Britney Spears is defending the singer against accusations that she caused a disturbance at a Los Angeles-area restaurant on Wednesday night. TMZ reported that Spears was involved in an incident involving barking, yelling, and even a knife.

What Happened at Blue Dog Tavern?

Spears, 44, was reportedly dining with two people, including a man she repeatedly told “I love you” to while they fed each other. Eyewitnesses told TMZ they heard Spears raising her voice, screaming, and barking. One witness described the atmosphere as chaotic and “kind of sad,” though the singer reportedly “still looked cute.”

At one point, staff had to ask a person with Spears to extinguish a cigarette lit inside the restaurant. However, the most unusual moment allegedly occurred when Spears walked through the restaurant holding a knife.

Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider, who was also dining at Blue Dog Tavern, posted on X that the incident was both “WILD” and “INSANE,” adding, “One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke.”

Representative's Statement

In a statement released to the media, an unnamed rep for Spears dismissed the reports as exaggerated. “Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard,” the rep said, insisting any noise from the singer was due to her “telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors.”

“At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half. This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now,” the spokesperson added.

The rep did not address TMZ’s allegations of kissing or the “I love you” comments.

The story comes 10 days after Spears avoided jail time for a DUI charge by pleading guilty to a lesser offense.
