Alyssa Farah Griffin Welcomes Baby Boy After IVF Journey
The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin and her husband Justin Griffin have announced the arrival of their baby boy, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr. The news was shared on the ABC daytime talk show by Whoopi Goldberg, who confirmed that both mother and baby are doing well.
Details of the Birth
Goldberg revealed on Wednesday morning that the newborn weighed 7 pounds and measured 19.5 inches. She added, "I'm sure they're tired, but they're doing well." The announcement came after Goldberg joked on the previous day's show that Griffin had gone into labor, possibly triggered by Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance.
Overcoming Fertility Challenges
Griffin, 36, had publicly shared her struggles with fertility, undergoing five rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive. She was diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often leading to fertility issues. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine in October, Griffin explained, "I went undiagnosed my whole life until I started this process. So that just added to the complications."
Maternity Leave and Guest Hosts
While Griffin is on maternity leave, several guest co-hosts will fill in on The View. According to Deadline, the lineup includes:
- Savannah Chrisley, starting February 17
- Political commentator Amanda Carpenter
- Former The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood
- Comedian Whitney Cummings
- Former The View co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman
The show's official Twitter account also congratulated the couple, posting a message of support for the new parents.
