Alex Cooper is setting the record straight about her marriage to Matt Kaplan. During Wednesday's episode of her "Call Her Daddy" podcast, the expectant mother shut down speculation about "tension" in their relationship, revealing that the rumors actually helped her hide her pregnancy.
How the Rumors Started
Cooper explained that the gossip stemmed from a stressful red-carpet event in May. She hadn't announced her pregnancy yet and panicked when her planned outfit no longer fit. "I started hyperventilating," she said, describing how buttons popped off and she struggled with Spanx. Kaplan tried to help, but they were running late.
Despite the chaos, Cooper managed to attend without revealing her pregnancy. She told her subscribers she was relieved people focused on their "marital issues" instead of her bump. "It was a win for the Cooper-Kaplans that day," she said. "Matt and I went to bed holding hands."
Cooper's Reaction to Online Gossip
While satisfied with the outcome, Cooper criticized the online rumor mill. "You read those things, and Matt and I are like, 'No one in our life is wondering those things,'" she said. "But then it is crazy to see the internet be like, 'Oh my God, they're on the rocks.'"
She added, "But Matt and I are good. No one needs to worry. Matt and I are great."
