Aurora Police Turn to Cold Case Podcast to Solve 2016 Murder of Chelsea Yasser
Aurora Police Use Podcast to Solve Chelsea Yasser Murder

Aurora police are turning to a cold case podcast in hopes of solving the murder of Chelsea Yasser, a 21-year-old Arizona woman who was stabbed to death in a parking lot nearly a decade ago.

The Night of the Murder

On Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 9:59 PM, a caller reported to the Aurora Police that they had found a woman lying in the parking lot of a Burlington Coat Factory in the 1200 block of Abilene Street. That woman was Chelsea Yasser. She had been stabbed multiple times. Yasser was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

Podcast as an Investigative Tool

Police hope that the podcast, which will detail the case and feature interviews with investigators and family members, will generate new leads. Cold case podcasts have become an increasingly popular tool for law enforcement, often reaching a wide audience and prompting tips that have helped solve other long-unsolved crimes.
