A new fashion hub has opened in Walkerville, Windsor, to support local designers and foster the region's fashion industry. The initiative was announced during a press conference on June 3, 2026, attended by Fashion Week Windsor-Essex Chair President Stephen Drouin, recent fashion graduate Larissa Kersey, and Chair Lori Moore.
Supporting Local Talent
The hub aims to provide resources, workspace, and mentorship for emerging designers in the Windsor-Essex area. Stephen Drouin emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent, stating that the hub will offer sewing equipment, design software, and networking opportunities.
Larissa Kersey, a recent fashion graduate, expressed excitement about the hub, noting that it fills a gap for young designers who lack access to professional-grade tools and guidance. The facility is located in the historic Walkerville district, known for its artistic community.
Community and Economic Impact
Lori Moore highlighted the economic benefits, predicting that the hub will attract fashion-related businesses and tourism to the area. The hub will also host workshops, fashion shows, and pop-up shops to engage the public.
The opening coincides with growing interest in sustainable and locally made fashion. Organizers hope the hub will become a model for other communities.
