Two First Nations and BMI Group have partnered to revive Sault Ste. Marie's St. Mary's Paper Mill Tower into a hotel, conference centre, and cultural destination. The project aims to repurpose the historic industrial structure, creating a landmark that celebrates local heritage while boosting tourism and economic development. The tower, once a key part of the region's paper industry, will now host a hotel, meeting spaces, and cultural exhibits. This initiative reflects a growing trend of adaptive reuse in Northern Ontario, blending preservation with modern hospitality. The partnership underscores collaboration between Indigenous communities and private enterprise, promising new jobs and community spaces. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion targeted for 2028.
