Two Charged After High Level Bridge Crash in Edmonton
Two individuals have been charged following a multi-vehicle crash on Edmonton's High Level Bridge early Saturday morning. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., involved several vehicles and resulted in significant traffic disruptions. Emergency services responded promptly, and no serious injuries were reported.
According to police, the crash was caused by reckless driving and excessive speed. The two suspects, whose names have not been released, are facing charges including dangerous driving and impaired driving. They are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
The High Level Bridge, a major artery connecting downtown Edmonton to the south side, was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. Traffic was diverted to alternative routes, causing delays for early morning commuters.
This incident is part of a concerning trend of increased collisions on Edmonton's bridges. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, especially during early morning hours when visibility may be reduced.
An investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
