Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle collision on Highway 6 in Haldimand County that claimed the life of a teenager and left another person injured. The crash occurred on Saturday afternoon, according to OPP officials.
Details of the Incident
Emergency crews responded to the scene on Highway 6 near Concession 6 Walpole shortly after 2 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a tree. A teenage occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition has not been released.
Investigation Underway
The OPP's Technical Collision Investigation unit has been deployed to assist in determining the cause of the crash. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact them. The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
This tragic event adds to a series of recent fatal collisions across Ontario, including a multi-vehicle motorcycle crash in Kawartha Lakes that left three people dead and several others injured. Authorities continue to urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits.
