Massey Tunnel Closed for Two Nights for Maintenance

The George Massey Tunnel, a vital link between Richmond and Delta, will be closed for two consecutive nights this weekend to facilitate essential maintenance work, according to the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Closure Schedule

The tunnel will be shut down in both directions on Friday from 10 p.m. until Saturday at 4:30 a.m., and again on Saturday from 10 p.m. until Sunday at 4:30 a.m. These overnight closures are necessary to allow crews to perform critical upkeep tasks that ensure the tunnel remains safe and operational.

Alternative Routes and Exceptions

While the tunnel is closed, emergency vehicles and public transit buses will be permitted to pass through. All other motorists are advised to use alternative routes, such as the Alex Fraser Bridge, to avoid delays. The ministry urges drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during these periods.
