Highway 7 near Perth has fully reopened after being closed for several hours due to a serious collision involving a propane truck. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the incident on Saturday afternoon, which led to the closure of the highway between Perth and Carleton Place.

Collision Details

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. on May 2, 2026. The crash involved a propane transport truck and at least one other vehicle. As a precaution, authorities established a 1.5-kilometer evacuation zone around the crash site due to the risk of explosion from the propane tanker. Nearby residents were temporarily relocated, and traffic was diverted to local roads.

Investigation and Reopening

OPP officers worked alongside hazardous materials teams to assess the situation and safely remove the propane truck. The highway was cleared and reopened by 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 3. Police have not released details about the cause of the collision or the condition of those involved. The investigation is ongoing.
