Traffic on Highway 417 was disrupted for hours Friday morning after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured on the highway east of Bronson Avenue. The incident occurred early in the day, leading to extensive closures as emergency crews responded.
Details of the Incident
Ottawa Paramedic Service confirmed they were called at 2:48 a.m. for a man found in critical condition in the eastbound lanes. Paramedics reported that it was unclear whether the victim had been inside a vehicle prior to the collision.
Police Response and Closures
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed the highway at Bronson Avenue to conduct a thorough investigation. In an update on X, OPP stated: “Hwy417 EB has reopened approaching Bronson Avenue.” However, the westbound lanes remained closed for an undetermined period.
The OPP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes until further notice.
