Ice Cream Heist Hits Cambridge Staple L.A. Franks
In a brazen theft that has left the community in disbelief, L.A. Franks, a beloved ice cream shop in Cambridge, Ontario, was robbed of more than 25 tubs of ice cream. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, with thieves making off with a substantial amount of frozen treats and other items.
According to police reports, between 25 and 30 tubs of ice cream were stolen, along with cases of pop, bottled water, cooking oil, and various small equipment. The total value of the stolen goods has not yet been disclosed, but the loss has been significant for the family-owned business.
Community Shocked by the Theft
L.A. Franks has been a fixture in the Cambridge area for decades, known for its classic ice cream flavors and friendly service. Regular customers expressed their dismay at the news. 'It's heartbreaking,' said one long-time patron. 'This is a place where families come to make memories. To see it targeted like this is just wrong.'
The shop's owner, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the thieves appeared to have targeted the ice cream specifically. 'They knew what they were after. They bypassed other items and went straight for the freezers.'
Police Investigation Underway
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating the break-in and have reviewed surveillance footage. They believe the suspects used a vehicle to transport the stolen goods. No arrests have been made yet, but investigators are following up on leads.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. 'This kind of crime affects not just the business but the entire community,' said Constable Mark Wilson. 'We are committed to finding those responsible.'
