In a landmark decision, Vancouver's city council has approved the installation of a 250-room floating hotel, commonly referred to as a floatel, on a Coal Harbour water lot adjacent to the Vancouver Convention Centre's west building. This innovative development marks the first of its kind in the city, promising to transform the waterfront with a unique blend of luxury and sustainability.
Design and Features of the Floating Hotel
The floatel will be an impressive six-level vessel measuring 131 metres in length and 18 metres in width. It will boast a comprehensive array of amenities designed to enhance the visitor experience, including:
- A hotel-bar for social gatherings and relaxation
- Retail shops offering local and international products
- A fine-dining restaurant with panoramic views
- A full-service spa for wellness and rejuvenation
