A historic building in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighborhood has sustained significant damage following an overnight fire that broke out on Wednesday evening. Vancouver Fire Rescue Services reported that the fire ignited shortly after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Kingsway and Main Street. Assistant Fire Chief Arnie Groenewegen confirmed that all occupants managed to escape the flames unharmed, though six residents have been displaced as a result of the incident.
Twenty-eight firefighters responded to the scene and encountered smoke and flames emanating from second and third-floor windows of the building. The rapid response helped prevent further spread of the fire, though significant damage had already occurred.
