Solaris Resources Announces Major Warintza District Expansion and High-Grade Copper Discoveries

Solaris Resources Inc. has unveiled a significant expansion of its operations within Ecuador's emerging Warintza copper district, marking a pivotal moment in the company's growth strategy. The Canadian mining company, listed on both the TSX and NYSE, has secured an option to acquire up to 100% interest in new exploration areas adjacent to its flagship Warintza Project through a partnership with Ecuador's state-owned mining company, Empresa Nacional Minera ENAMI EP.

Strategic Expansion and Geological Potential

The newly optioned concessions, referred to as Solaris 2, add approximately 40,000 hectares to Solaris' footprint in southeastern Ecuador. This expansion consolidates the company's presence in what is rapidly becoming recognized as one of the world's most promising copper districts. The additional areas capture extensions of key geological trends that are continuous with the existing Warintza Project, suggesting substantial exploration upside and reinforcing the potential for district-scale development.

Early-stage prospecting activities within the Solaris 1 optioned areas have yielded particularly encouraging results. Rock sampling has identified compelling copper anomalies with values reaching up to 8.38% copper, supporting immediate follow-up work and highlighting the broader geological potential beyond the Warintza Project itself. Three high-priority target areas have been identified within Solaris 1: Tinki Northwest, Tinki North, and Tinki South.

Corporate Leadership and Partnership Development

Matthew Rowlinson, President and CEO of Solaris Resources, emphasized the strategic importance of this development: "The award of these areas represents a significant step forward in strengthening our position across what is proving to be a highly prolific copper district. With this expanded concession package, Solaris is well positioned to unlock a true district-scale opportunity built on shared infrastructure, responsible development and strong partnerships with the State and local communities."

Gallo García, General Manager of ENAMI EP, commented on the strengthened relationship: "We are very pleased that the second commercial agreement with Solaris has been finalized. By the end of 2024, the company had consolidated its position as a strategic partner of ENAMI EP, which has allowed us to strengthen a relationship based on cooperation and a shared vision for development."

Project Advancement and Future Outlook

The expansion announcement comes as Solaris advances multiple parallel initiatives:

  • Feasibility Study: Currently underway with leading international engineering and technical partners
  • Permitting Strategy: Environmental Impact Assessment technical approval approaching
  • District Consolidation: Further solidifying Warintza's position as a world-class copper district

The geological characteristics of the newly acquired areas show widespread potassic alteration typical of large copper porphyry systems, suggesting significant mineralization potential. This expansion not only enhances Solaris' exploration portfolio but also supports the company's long-term vision of developing a future world-class copper mining hub in Ecuador.

As global copper demand continues to grow amid the transition to renewable energy and electrification, developments in districts like Warintza become increasingly significant for both corporate growth and national economic development. The partnership between Solaris Resources and Ecuador's state mining company represents a collaborative approach to resource development that balances economic opportunity with responsible environmental and community considerations.
