Mustang Minerals Limited has announced significant progress in its exploration activities at the Pilot copper-gold project in Nevada, USA, following regulatory approval of its option to acquire a majority interest in three key properties. The company has confirmed and expanded upon a large induced polarization geophysical anomaly, marking a promising development in its mineral exploration efforts.
Geophysical Discovery at Pilot Project
Recent field work at the Pilot Project has revealed a substantial chargeability high feature measuring approximately 1.25 kilometers along strike and up to 2.2 kilometers wide. This anomaly remains open and is associated with both a magnetic high response and a broad zone of elevated copper, gold, bismuth, and molybdenum in soil samples. The discovery suggests the presence of a large hydrothermal alteration system that is prospective for copper-gold mineralization.
Exploration Activities and Technical Details
Mustang Minerals initiated its 2026 work program with induced polarization geophysical surveying at the Pilot project, building upon previous work conducted in late 2025. The company has completed eight survey lines—five east-west and three north-south—which have traced the chargeability anomaly across the identified dimensions. This anomaly is proximal to a high magnetic response feature previously identified through drone-based magnetics surveys.
Alteration mapping and soil sampling have confirmed the presence of widespread pyrophyllite, an alteration mineral often associated with the upper parts of porphyry copper deposits. The company has recently completed additional soil sampling and plans further IP survey lines to explore the limits of this large anomaly, with the goal of designing a potential first-pass drill program.
Company Commentary and Strategic Context
J Duane Poliquin, Chairman of Mustang Minerals, commented on the findings, stating, "Exploration geophysical surveys at the Pilot Project highlight the scale of this large hydrothermal alteration system prospective for copper-gold mineralisation. We are excited for the next steps and to be now actively exploring our new Nevada copper and gold project portfolio."
The company's USA exploration properties are located in central Nevada and are considered prospective for both copper-gold porphyry and high sulphidation gold-silver-copper style mineralization. The Red Ring and Confusion Hills Projects feature preserved high sulphidation style alteration on surface with potential for associated gold mineralization, while the Pilot Project is being explored for copper-gold mineralization beneath pyrophyllite-sericite alteration mapped at surface.
Logistical Preparations and Future Plans
In late 2025, Mustang extended previous IP geophysical lines surveyed by Almadex at both the Pilot and Red Ring Projects. Additionally, logistical preparations were undertaken at Confusion Hills for a potential 2026 drill program. The company's systematic approach includes ongoing geophysical surveys, soil sampling, and alteration mapping to build a comprehensive understanding of the mineral potential across its Nevada portfolio.
Mustang Minerals Limited trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol MMX and on the OTCQB under MMXLF. The company's exploration activities in Nevada represent a strategic focus on copper and gold projects in a region known for its mineral endowment.
