Coppernico Metals Launches Major Geophysical Surveys at Peru's Sombrero Copper-Gold Project
Coppernico Launches Large Geophysical Program in Peru

VANCOUVER, BC – Coppernico Metals Inc. (TSX: COPR, OTCQB: CPPMF, FSE: 9I3) has initiated a significant new phase of exploration at its flagship Sombrero copper-gold project in Peru. The company announced on December 4, 2025, the commencement of a large-scale, dual-method geophysical program designed to uncover new targets beneath surface cover and refine the understanding of this promising mineralized system.

Unmanned and Ground Surveys to Map Subsurface Potential

The program features two complementary surveys. The first is an extensive UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) magnetic survey planned to cover approximately 13,000 hectares, equivalent to 130 square kilometres. This will involve flying nearly 760 line-kilometres of new data. A key objective is to expand coverage into the northern Antapampa and southern Tipicancha target areas, which were missed by previous magnetic campaigns.

In parallel, Coppernico has started a first-ever ground gravity survey across roughly 7,000 hectares of the project area. This new dataset is expected to map dense skarn horizons, intrusive centres, and major geological structures that magnetic data alone cannot detect.

Integrating Data for Precise Drill Targeting

The high-resolution data from these surveys will be integrated with existing induced polarization (IP) and geological information to create updated 3D models. According to Ivan Bebek, Chair and CEO of Coppernico, this integrated approach is crucial for building a pipeline of drill-ready targets.

“These high-resolution datasets being collected from these geophysical programs, in conjunction with our previous surface work and drilling, will enhance our understanding of the current potential and help delineate additional key targets for our next phase of drilling,” Bebek stated in the news release.

The company emphasized that past drilling has confirmed strong density contrasts between rock types and mineralized zones, validating the gravity method's potential. The new UAV magnetic data is also expected to be of significantly higher quality and resolution than historical surveys from 2007 and 2018.

Strategic Goals for 2026 and Community Engagement

Coppernico's exploration strategy for Sombrero in 2026 has two clear focal points. The primary goal is to expand the known high-grade Fierrazo copper-gold target. Secondly, the company plans to test several newly identified targets within what it describes as a highly underexplored but prolific mining region of Peru.

Bebek also highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to its social license to operate. “We also continue to prioritize and expand great partnerships with the local communities where we have been able to provide additional jobs with recent ongoing work programs,” he noted.

The launch of this extensive geophysical program marks a decisive step for Coppernico as it seeks to de-risk and advance the Sombrero project. The data acquired over the coming months will be instrumental in guiding a future, potentially transformative, drill campaign aimed at outlining a major new copper-gold district.
