VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Aventis Energy Inc. has officially commenced its winter drilling activities at the Corvo Uranium Project, located near Wollaston Lake in northeastern Saskatchewan. The program, which began on February 9, 2026, marks a significant step in exploring this 12,364-hectare site for uranium deposits.
Drilling Details and Targets
The winter drill campaign is planned to span five to six weeks, with approximately 2,500 to 3,000 metres of drilling across eight to ten drill holes. The focus is on shallow high-grade basement-hosted uranium mineralization, starting with the Manhattan target area. This area has shown promising surface radioactivity, with grab samples reaching up to 8.10% U3O8, indicating strong potential for uranium extraction.
Strategic Exploration Approach
Drilling operations utilize road-accessible skid-supported diamond drilling, targeting high-priority uranium zones identified through geophysical work completed in 2025. Recent prospecting efforts have confirmed robust radioactivity at the surface, enhancing the project's exploration thesis. The program will concentrate on major conductor trends associated with cross-cutting faults and surface radioactivity expressions, leveraging Xcite™ electromagnetic corridors and high-resolution ground gravity data.
Project Location and Significance
The Corvo Project is strategically positioned sixty kilometers east of Cameco's McArthur River mine and forty-five kilometers northeast of Atha Energy's Gemini Mineralized Zone. This location places it within the prolific Athabasca Basin, a region renowned for its uranium resources. The project covers fourteen mineral claims along Highway 905 on the eastern margin of the basin, offering accessible infrastructure for exploration activities.
Funding and Operational Support
Aventis Energy is fully funding the drill program, with Standard Uranium Ltd. acting as the operator. This collaboration ensures efficient execution of the drilling activities, which aim to test the high-grade Manhattan Showing at depth and other shallow targets refined through recent geophysical and prospecting work.
Leadership Commentary
Michael Mulberry, Chief Executive Officer of Aventis Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the program's commencement. "We are pleased to have started drilling at the Corvo Uranium Project," he stated. "This campaign is designed to evaluate the high-grade Manhattan Showing and other priority targets, supported by our recent geophysical advancements. With drilling underway and full funding secured, we anticipate progressing Corvo and sharing results as the program develops."
Historical Context and Future Prospects
This winter program represents the first diamond drilling at Corvo in over forty years, highlighting its untapped uranium potential. The initiative follows comprehensive Time Domain Electromagnetic and ground gravity surveys conducted last year, which have refined target areas for exploration. As the Athabasca Basin continues to be a focal point for uranium mining, Aventis Energy's efforts at Corvo could contribute to expanding the region's resource base, supporting global energy needs through nuclear power.
